Yasser Arafat’s legacy: The death of Palestinian statehood - analysis

In many ways, the failure of the Palestinian cause in the last two decades is a result of the decisions of Arafat during the ten years he presided over the Palestinian Authority.

Yasser Arafat died 20 years ago this month – November 11, 2004 – at the age of 75. He was born in 1929 in Cairo and was active in activism that led to the founding of the Fatah movement in 1959.

Fatah eventually became one of the major Palestinian factions that led to the formation of the Palestinian Authority in 1994.

The first two-state solution: The forgotten partition of 1922

1920's Map of British Mandate for Palestine

When the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued its July 2024 advisory opinion on Israel's presence in Judea, Samaria (the West Bank) and East Jerusalem, it framed the legal analysis almost exclusively around the "1967 baseline." This has become the default setting in international discourse: treating these areas as "Occupied Palestinian Territory" without reference to the legal framework that existed before.

Yet, the true legal foundation of modern Israel, and the region as a whole, begins not in 1967, but over four decades earlier. It is rooted in binding international commitments from 1920 and 1922 that partitioned the land long before any modern Palestinian statehood claim arose.

Intriguing new poll finds 48% of Gazans support anti-Hamas demonstrations — and 43% want to leave Gaza

Also: aging Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas appoints a moderate as his VP and successor — what do we know about him?

Palestinian opposition to Hamas is growing sharply.

Nearly half of all Gazans — 48% — now support the anti-Hamas protests that are steadily gaining momentum and size in the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, Palestinian support for the Hamas invasion and slaughter of Israelis on October 7 is steadily declining.

United Nations: Still United Against Israel’s Ancestral Homeland

The United Nations’ 80-year history contains some wretched moments. On October 24, 1945—after World War II ended—51 countries officially launched the United Nations (U.N.). Although the organization was established with dreams of peace and “sovereign equality of all nations,” the majority of today’s 193 member nations are united against the world’s only Jewish nation.

Instead of supporting “sovereign equality” for Israel, the U.N. glorifies Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who still runs his “pay to slay” salary operation that rewards Palestinian terrorists for murdering Jews. Since October 7, 2023, the U.N. has increased its accusations—that humanitarian aid trucks were “violently looted,” for example, and that IDF soldiers used Palestinian children as human shields—as if Israel is the perpetrator of all that has befallen Gaza.

British comedian and actor Sacha Baron-Cohen calls out BBC for distorted headline on Hezbollah’s massacre of 12 children in Israeli Golan

British Jewish comedian and actor Sacha Baron-Cohen called out the BBC for its biased reporting on the Hezbollah massacre of 12 children in the Druze town of Majdal Shams in Israel's Golan Heights. The Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah fired an Iranian-produced rocket that killed the children and youth while they were playing at a soccer field.

“Eleven dead in rocket attack on Israeli-occupied Golan,” BBC wrote in its original headline, failing to mention Hezbollah as the perpetrator. The British news network also emphasized its bias against Israel by using the expression

Fmr PM Naftali Bennett tells THE ROSENBERG REPORT: Israel’s rebirth is fulfillment of Ezekiel 37 prophecies.

Fmr PM Naftali Bennett tells THE ROSENBERG REPORT: Israel’s rebirth is fulfillment of Ezekiel 37 prophecies, it’s time to get tougher with Iran, and two-state solution blew up in our faces twice.

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL – Israelis this week have been celebrating the 76th anniversary of the Jewish state’s modern rebirth in May 1948.

We are also grieving the death and the wounding of so many of our fellow citizens this year, as well as the 253 who were taken captive by Hamas.

What does it all mean?

EE.

Despite ‘Fragile’ Truce, Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Remains, Requiring 2-state Solution, UN Envoy Tells Security Council

Tor Wennesland, the UN’s special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, called on Monday for talks on a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Wennesland told the Security Council that the recent exchange of airstrikes and rocket-fire between Israeli military forces and Palestinian armed groups, primarily Islamic Jihad, was a deeply worrying escalation and that the cease-fire declared on Sunday night was fragile.

While the de-escalation, facilitated by Egyptian mediation, prevented the outbreak of a full-scale war and facilitated the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza on Monday, the roots of the conflict remain. “I want to make the council

Do Palestinians prefer united Jerusalem under Israeli rule? - opinion

There is much debate over the existence and route of the Jerusalem Day flag march which is planned to go through Damascus Gate.

MOTTA GUR (right), the paratroop commander during the 1967 war, and Yitzhak Rabin (second from right), who had been IDF chied of staff, visit the Lions Gate in 1992 to mark the war's 25th anniversary where Israeli troops had entered the Old City. (photo credit: FLASH90)

The fault lines over this Sunday’s Jerusalem Day celebrations are often depicted in simplistic terms: Thousands of kippa-clad Israelis take part in the annual parade to mark the anniversary of the reunification of the city in the Six Day War of June 1967, while keffiyeh-sporting Palestinians demonstrate their opposition to Israeli rule over al-Quds. But the realities are far more nuanced.

Why the Amnesty ‘apartheid’ smear of Israel can’t be ignored

The anti-Semitic lies spewed by leftist “human-rights” groups are absurd. But this attack is part of a dangerous U.N. campaign against Zionism whose goal is to isolate the Jewish state.

(February 2, 2022 / JNS) Say this for Amnesty International, its outrageous report alleging that Israel is an “apartheid state” has brought nearly all of the Jewish world together to condemn the organization. Groups from the Jewish right, left and center all agree that its claims are bogus and that its goal is not to criticize specific policies or push for it to withdraw from the 1967 borders. The purpose of the report is to

A Christian view of the coming Temple - opinion

A big topic in New Testament Bible prophecy: The building of the Third Temple.

The Temple Mount in Jerusalem is the focus of ongoing Bible history and prophecy.

This is the center of the world, where Abraham offered up his son Isaac, where King David purchased land and where his son Solomon built the First Temple. It is also where Jesus cleansed the Temple and a poor widow gave an offering of two copper coins that Jesus said was greater than all the most extravagant donations.

Ancient biblical Mount Moriah is Jerusalem’s most recognizable landscape— to the Jews it is called the Temple Mount and to Muslims it is the Noble Sanctuary.

Terror attack bared West Bank barrier’s gaps, but some say holes help keep the peace

Experts say despite tough talk from army, unspoken policy of allowing Palestinian laborers to enter Israel illegally for work will remain as a vital pressure release valve.

Israeli leaders reacted with shock and anger last week when it emerged that a Palestinian man who gunned down five people in Bnei Brak had entered Israel via a hole in the West Bank security barrier big enough to drive a car through. But for years, Israeli officials have seemingly turned a blind eye to gaps in the barrier that are used daily by thousands of Palestinian laborers to enter Israel illegally.
