Jewish Home chairman Rafi Peretz agreed to merge his faction with Naftali Bennett’s New Right late Wednesday night, breaking his agreement with the far-right Otzma Yehudit in the final minutes before the party filing deadline for the upcoming March election.

Israel aprueba un nuevo vecindario judío en Hebrón


Diario Judío México - El flamante ministro de Defensa, Naftalí Bennett, aprobó la planificación de un nuevo barrio judío en la ciudad de Hebrón en Judea (sur de Cisjordania). La decisión fue elogiada por la derecha y condenada por la izquierda.

La comunidad judía de Hebrón está conformada por alrededor de mil almas que residen en varios enclaves, fuertemente custodiados por las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel (FDI) en medio de aproximadamente 215 mil palestinos. La zona ha sido escenario de numerosos incidentes de violencia, en los últimos años, incluyendo apuñalamientos.

Political rivals of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed the appointment Friday of New Right MK Naftali Bennett as defense minister, castigating the move as an effort by Netanyahu to shore up support with his right-wing religious allies amid coalition deadlock and his expected indictment for corruption.

New Right party leader Naftali Bennett on Sunday continued a media blitz against the background of the possibility of coalition talks failing and third elections within a year being called, warning that the right-wing bloc would suffer a “historic collapse” if that happens.

Bennett in recent days has hinted that he is ready to bolt Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s 55-strong bloc of supporters for the sake of preventing fresh elections, with both Bennett and media reports floating the options of Netanyahu entering a government without him and vice versa.

A Monday newspaper report claimed that former justice minister Ayelet Shaked, who now leads the right-wing Yamina party, offered to use her purported influence with Israel’s attorney general to ensure the closure of three corruption investigations against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Peretz agrees to give Shaked No.1 spot on right-wing Knesset list

Union of Right-Wing Parties leader Rafi Peretz on Sunday said he agreed give New Right leader Ayelet Shaked the top spot on a joint electoral ticket for the September 17 elections.

In a tweet, Peretz said he and Shaked reached the agreement out of a sense of “national unity and concern for a right-wing government and religious Zionism.”

Enlace Judío México e Israel – La exministra de Justicia de Israel, Ayelet Shaked, anunció este domingo de manera oficial que liderará el recién fundado partido Hayemin Hehadash (Nueva Derecha) de cara a las elecciones del próximo 17 de septiembre.

Durante su mensaje emitido en su anuncio, Shaked instó a los demás partidos de derecha a dejar sus diferencias de un lado y a que unan fuerzas para poder salir victoriosos en los próximos comicios.

Netanyahu ofrece a Bennett el cargo de embajador en la ONU

Fuentes cercanas al primer ministro, Benjamín Netanyahu, le propusieron al líder del partido Nueva Derecha, Naftalí Bennett, el puesto de embajador en las Naciones Unidas a cambio de que renuncie a postularse en las próximas elecciones, señala un reporte del diario Maariv.

Con la propuesta, Netanyahu intenta prevenir que el partido Nueva Derecha se presente en forma independiente, una situación que facilitaría la incorporación de la ex ministra de Justicia, Ayelet Shaked, en la lista de la Unión de Partidos de Derecha.

Justice minister defends ‘fascism’ spot, dismisses ‘bitter’ critics

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked on Tuesday dismissed the controversy caused in Israel and abroad by her New Right party’s campaign video featuring her as a model advertising a perfume called “Fascism,” saying she knew it would prompt reactions, but “the message passed.”

The satirical campaign ad released Monday mocks left-wing concerns that the party seeks to weaken Israel’s judiciary. The faux perfume ad posed Shaked, a co-chair of New Right, as its sultry model, and an affected, whispering narrator listing Shaked’s goals — all under the pretense that the perfume is called “Fascism, by Ayelet Shaked.”

Journalist turned politician Caroline Glick turns the spotlight on Blue and White Party, Israeli left

(March 12, 2019 / JNS) Caroline B. Glick, a senior columnist at Breitbart News, was the senior contributing and chief columnist for The Jerusalem Post until she decided to run for the Knesset in the upcoming April national elections.

Born in Houston, she grew up in Chicago and moved to Israel in 1991, two weeks after earning her bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia University. She joined the Israel Defense Forces that summer and served as an officer for five-and-a-half years.

Caroline Glick, a longtime Jerusalem Post columnist with staunchly conservative views, will be joining the New Right Party formed by Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked. 

The Jerusalem Post reports that Caroline Glick, a longtime columnist for the paper, announced Wednesday she will be joining the New Right party recently formed by Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked.

Bennett, Shaked quit Jewish Home, announce formation of ‘The New Right’

Two ministers say they felt hobbled by their party’s acquiescence to PM’s edicts, seek to forge full, equal ‘partnership between secular and religious’ with new right-wing party.

In a shock announcement, Education Minister Naftali Bennett, leader of the Jewish Home, and his colleague Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked on Saturday evening said they were quitting the party and instead setting up HaYamin HeHadash (“The New Right”), a party based on “full partnership” between Orthodox and secular Israelis, to run in April’s elections.
