The Hezbollah terrorist organization is struggling to stem a wave of desertions among the ranks of its fighters, including its elite Radwan Force, the Arabic-language news channel Elaph reported on Sunday.

In another sign potentially highlighting the terror group’s dire situation, Lebanon’s parliament speaker and Hezbollah’s representative in the ceasefire talks, Nabih Berri, informed mediators Qatar and Egypt that it is ready to negotiate independently of the Gaza War, a diplomatic source told the Lebanese LBCI channel.

‘The Jerusalem Post’ is still fighting for Israel, 90 years later

We don’t shy away from tough issues: We embrace them. That is what we learned from Agron. Happy 90th anniversary.

On December 1, 1932 a light, eight-page new newspaper was printed in Jerusalem. Its name was The Palestine Post and in that first edition, the front page had short stories about a car crash injuring two RAF officers near Ramle; the arrival in Jerusalem of Yassin Pasha, soon to be the prime minister of Iraq; and the return to Jerusalem of Norman Bentwich, the British attorney-general of Mandatory Palestine.

That Other Time They Almost Declared a Jewish State (and No One Noticed)

In July 1943, in the midst of World War II, notable members of the "yishuv" gathered in secret in a Tel Aviv suburb, to proclaim the establishment of a Jewish government in the Land of Israel.

Few people are aware that the declaration of independence of the State of Israel on May 14th, 1948, (the fifth day of the month of Iyar in the year 5708, according to the Hebrew calendar) was preceded by another, almost clandestine ceremony, in which the establishment of a Jewish government in the Land of Israel was proclaimed. The fall of the Hittites

The Hittites were an Anatolian people who established an Empire stretching across most of Anatolia, parts of the northern Levant and Upper Mesopotamia, centred on the capital of Hattusa near modern Boğazkale, Turkey.

Before the arrival of the Hittites, the region was inhabited by the Hattian people known as the “land of Hatti” around 2000 BC. The Hattians were absorbed into a new Hittite state either by conquest or gradual assimilation, but the origins of the Hittites are divisive, with some academics speculating a connection with the Yamnaya culture of the Pontic–Caspian steppe, the Ezero culture of the Balkans or the Maykop culture of the Caucasus.

Y ahora hemos

Archaeologists uncover UAE’s earliest known buildings

Image Credit : DCT Abu Dhabi

Archaeologists from the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) have uncovered the earliest known buildings in the UAE and the broader region, dating back more than 8,500 years.

The discovery was made on the small island of Ghagha, where researchers found several structures dated using a carbon-14 analysis on pieces of charcoal found in situ, that places the settlement to almost 6500 BC.

The structures are circular in shape and are made from local stone, preserved to a height of almost one metre. The settlement was likely permanent, relying on

Netanyahu courts Arab voters in election-year turnabout

Palestinian protesters hold signs and flags during a demonstration against a visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the northern Arab city of Nazareth, Israel, Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2921. JERUSALEM (AP) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has spent much of his long career casting Israel’s Arab minority as a potential fifth column led by terrorist sympathizers, is now openly courting their support as he seeks reelection in the country’s fourth vote in less than two years.

Few Arabs are likely to heed his call, underscoring the desperation of Netanyahu’s political somersault. But the relative absence of incitement against the community in this campaign and the potential breakup of an Arab party alliance could dampen

UAE: How Mohammed Ben Zayed has transformed the Arab world

Ten years on from the beginning of the Arab Spring, the Crown Prince of the UAE now heads a regional power, not only militarily but also one that is ideologically at odds with political Islam.

This story begins in a camp on the Albanian border in 1999, where the Kosovo War has been raging for a year. A contingent of soldiers from the UAE patrols the perimeter in huge Humvees, while Puma helicopters piloted by members of its air force, fly over a landscape of dizzying mountains and ravines.

A tall, bearded man with a hook nose accentuated by a pair of glasses, brushes his teeth with ease. Frank Gardner, the BBC‘s security correspondent, recognises him. It is Mohammed Ben Zayed (MBZ), the future Crown Prince, then Chief of Staff, at

The US quietly makes major shift on Israel-Palestine policy

Photo: Zvonimir Atletic via shutterstock.com

When the United Arab Emirates announced its intention to normalize relations with Israel, they justified the decision — which was highly unpopular in the Arab world — in part by claiming that in exchange for normalization, Israel had agreed to shelve their plans to annex much of the territory of the West Bank. Critics argued that annexation was an ongoing process, and that settlement expansion and incorporation of that infrastructure into Israel was continuing, so it wasn’t much of a concession on Israel’s part.

This week, the United States and Israel proved those critics correct when they announced revisions to agreements governing scientific cooperation.
