Saudi Arabia opens large investment summit, focuses on urban megaprojects and AI

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday kicked off the ninth Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and urban megaprojects. The major Saudi global business conference, often described as “Davos in the Desert” — a reference to the elite annual gathering in Davos, Switzerland — is being held at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center, a former royal palace.

Los países europeos no apoyan la propuesta de la Comisión de la UE de castigar a Israel

Los Veintisiete no han respaldado, por el momento, este martes la propuesta del Ejecutivo comunitario de castigar a Israel con la exclusión parcial en el programa científico comunitario Horizonte, por la situación en Gaza.

Según confirmaron varias fuentes comunitarias, durante la reunión de los embajadores europeos no se consiguió la mayoría necesaria, de 15 países, que hubiese permitido seguir adelante con la iniciativa del Ejecutivo comunitario.

Aunque hay muchos Estados miembros que sí están a favor de esta propuesta, como España, otros necesitan tiempo para estudiarla en detalle a la luz de la evolución en el terreno, mientras que un tercer grupo expresó escepticismo.

Gobierno israelí aprueba fondos para almacenamiento de “electricidad Kosher”


El gabinete firmó este domingo un controvertido proyecto de almacenamiento de energía que pretende abordar las preocupaciones de los judíos observantes sobre el uso de la electricidad producida por otros judíos en Shabat, informó The Times of Israel.

El plan para la instalación de almacenamiento en Bnei Brak tiene un precio de unos 33 millones de dólares, que según los críticos saldría de los bolsillos de los consumidores en general, incluidos aquellos que no requieren electricidad almacenada.

Los judíos ultraortodoxos, que se adhieren a una interpretación estricta de la ley judía, han promovido durante mucho tiempo el establecimiento de instalaciones de almacenamiento de energía.

NEW YORK (AP) — Saudi Arabia appears to be leaving behind the stream of negative coverage that the killing of Jamal Khashoggi elicited since 2018. The kingdom is once again being enthusiastically welcomed back into polite and powerful society, and it is no longer frowned upon to seek Saudi investments or accept their favor.

Jared Kushner to invest Saudi funds in Israeli start-ups - report

A new private-equity fund run by Jared Kushner intends to invest millions of dollars raised from Saudi Arabia in Israeli start-ups, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

The fund, Affinity Partners, has already raised over $3 billion, including a $2 billion commitment from Saudi Arabia's sovereign-wealth fund.

Europe's natural gas shortage, which has pushed prices to multi-year highs, has revived talk of the EastMed pipeline – a Mediterranean Sea pipeline that could carry gas from Israel to European customers, Chevron Chief Executive Michael Wirth said on Monday at the CERAWeek energy conference.

Wirth downplayed concerns over global oil supplies amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and the subsequent potential for an energy crisis.

Israel, líder mundial en nuevas inversiones en tecnología climática

Considerado un referente en tecnología climática a nivel mundial, Israel cuenta con 1200 empresas de este rubro. De estas, 637 son nuevas, y todas ayudan a reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero en su territorio y todo el planeta.

Para dicho propósito, la nación invirtió alrededor de 2.200 millones de dólares en 2021. Lo hizo en tecnología de mitigación del clima como Future Meat (347 millones de dicha divisa), un 57% más que el récord anterior de 2020.

Israel signs deal with US for 12 CH-53K helicopters, two KC-46 refuelers

The Defense Ministry has signed an agreement with the US government to acquire 12 Lockheed Martin CH-53K helicopters and two additional Boeing KC-46 refueling aircraft.

The Defense Department’s procurement delegation signed the letters of acceptance with Israel on Thursday evening to replace the Israel Air Force’s CH-53 Yasur heavy-lift helicopters and Ra’am (Boeing 707) tanker aircraft that are required for long-range missions.
