Trump’s courageous decision to face Tehran head-on

More kicking the can down the road, appeasing Tehran’s nuclear program, missiles and its relentless quest for terror, is not an option. The reality is that the regime must go.

An NBC News live feed airs a clip from U.S. President Donald Trump's Truth Social video announcement in the White House James S. Brady Press Briefing Room on Feb. 28, 2026 in Washington, D.C. Photo by Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images.

(Feb. 28, 2026 / JNS)  The strongest argument that President Donald Trump’s political opponents can muster to decry his decision to order American forces to join with Israel to act against Iran is that he is launching a “war of choice,” rather than seeking to avert an imminent threat to American interests or security. Even his sternest critics, such as the editorial page of The New York Times, acknowledged that the government of Iran is not merely a brutal oppressor and a constant threat to the rest of the Middle East as well as to the West, but also combines a “murderous ideology with nuclear ambitions.”

Yossi Cohen, the former head of the Israeli foreign intelligence agency, Mossad, addressed the Iranian nuclear threat against Israel at the Memorial Day ceremony, held on Tuesday evening at the Museum of Tolerance in Jerusalem.

"This is a regime which openly calls for our destruction, funds terror across the region and acts nonstop to try to acquire nuclear capabilities," Cohen stated. “It is a test of our unity, our resilience, and our unwavering determination to defend our people and homeland."

The former Mossad chief emphasized that Israel must, if necessary, use all means to prevent the ayatollah regime from acquiring nuclear weapons.

UN resolution that passed on Obama admin 11th-hour abstention ‘a mistake,’ US envoy says

Dorothy Shea, the interim U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, told the U.N. Security Council that Resolution 2334 is “an impediment to this council’s work.”

(March 21, 2025 / JNS)  United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, which passed in 2016 when the Obama administration abstained in the waning days of the presidency and which calls Israeli settlement activity a “flagrant violation” with “no legal validity,” was “a mistake,” Dorothy Shea, the interim U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, told the global body on Friday.

Chuck Schumer’s moral cowardice has enabled antisemitism

The cancellation of his book tour is a reminder that the New York senator failed to lead the fight against Jew-hatred and sought to undermine Israel’s government for partisan reasons.

(March 18, 2025 / JNS)  Alan Dershowitz may have written a book titled Chutzpah, but if anyone’s picture deserves to be in the dictionary alongside that idiomatic Yiddish word, it’s that of Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). There is fierce competition for such a dubious honor among politicians. But when it comes to the most shameless opportunist, most disingenuous and most willing to betray the principles he never stops telling us he is dedicated to defending, the Senate Minority Leader wins the argument hands down.

No negotiations before total Iranian nuclear rollback - opinion

Any talk of negotiating a new nuclear agreement—before Iran meets strict preconditions—is a dangerous mistake.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington marked an important moment in US-Israel relations. As the first foreign leader received by President Trump in this new phase of his presidency, Netanyahu was welcomed with high honors, reminiscent of their 2017 meeting. While much of the public focus was on Gaza, the most critical discussions behind closed doors centered on the Iranian threat—the regime’s nuclear ambitions, its regional aggression, and its sponsorship of terrorism.

‘America should never stop transferring arms to its closest ally’

Former U.S. official Elliott Abrams, chairman of the Tikvah Fund, called the Hamas massacre a "wake-up call that Biden's Iran policy has failed."

Elliott Abrams, who served as a senior official in previous Republican administrations and whose last role was enforcing sanctions on the Iranian regime during the Trump administration, opposes delays in U.S. arms shipments to Israel.

“I don’t know what and how much has been held up, but it shouldn’t have happened. The level of delay should be zero,” Abrams tells Israel Hayom in an exclusive interview in the wake of the recent clash between the Biden administration and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu is right to reject vassal-state etiquette

The prime minister broke protocol by calling out the Biden administration for slow-walking arms shipments. Washington’s real goal, however, is appeasing Iran and toppling him.

(June 21, 2024 / JNS)  As far as the White House and Democrats are concerned, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is doing it again. Similar to multiple occasions during the presidency of Barack Obama, Netanyahu is not playing by the rules Washington and the foreign-policy establishment believe are laid down to govern the behavior of client states.

US State Department to brief lawmakers on suspension of Iran envoy Malley

“A conviction would not necessarily sideline any nuclear deal,” said analyst Matthew Brodsky. “But it would provide a basis for more congressional oversight.”

(July 27, 2023 / JNS) Details remain sketchy, but Robert Malley confirmed at the beginning of the month that the U.S. State Department had suspended him from his role as special envoy for Iran.

Malley, who as a college undergraduate penned a 1980 Yale Daily News article stating that anyone who opposes Nazism should see Palestinians as “the Jews of the Jews,” also confirmed that his security clearance was suspended following an

Netanyahu to JNS: I intend to achieve peace with Saudi Arabia

In his brief time away from Israel’s top office, Benjamin Netanyahu has been feverishly working on his memoir, “Bibi: My Story.” However, his greatest hope is seemingly that there are still several chapters to be written. Netanyahu sat for a wide-ranging interview with JNS to discuss his memoir, upcoming elections and current events.

(October 23, 2022 / JNS) Benjamin Netanyahu’s 12-year consecutive term as Israel’s prime minister came to a close just over a year ago, after successive parliamentary blocking maneuvers prevented him from forming a stable right-wing government.

What formed in its place was an unstable alliance including every single member of Israel’s left wing, and, for the first time in Israel’s history, an Arab party, that is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood. The blocking coalition which brought Israel’s

UU.“, informó The Times of Israel.

NEW YORK — Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas told a group of Palestinian Americans last week that he scolded US Secretary of State Antony Blinken for failing to pressure Israel to make peace.

While Abbas has not shied away from publicly vocalizing his frustration with the Biden administration over the past year, his remarks during a private meeting with

Middle East peace will come despite US policy - opinion

It remains unclear as to whether the current US president will be making any meaningful contribution to Middle East peace.

On July 15, at the end of his first visit to Israel as US president, Joe Biden flew to Saudi Arabia. The White House was eager to stress that it was the first direct flight of its kind, emblematic of America’s involvement in the normalization of relations between the Jewish state and the Arab world.

US president visiting Israel: A dream now commonplace - opinion

Although now seemingly a routine occurrence, it is easy to forget that for more than a quarter-century, consecutive American presidents refrained from visiting the Jewish state.

Israelis were delighted to see US President Joe Biden touch down at Ben-Gurion Airport, his visit reminding them of Israel’s robust alliance with the world’s preeminent power. Biden will do everything he can to help Lapid

Despite outrage about interventions in its own elections, America has often sought to influence Israeli politics. Expect Washington to pull out all the stops to try to sabotage Netanyahu.

(June 22, 2022 / JNS) The latest developments in Israeli politics provided U.S. President Joe Biden with a good excuse to postpone his visit to Israel next month. With the collapse of Israel’s coalition government this week, the country is saddled with an interim government headed by an unelected prime minister in Yair Lapid who is about to launch his campaign to hold onto the office. Scheduling a visit by the leader of Israel’s sole superpower ally at the start of what promises to be a bitterly fought election campaign will make it clear that Washington is far from neutral when it comes to the outcome.
