Hallazgo en Jerusalén: una muralla de 2.100 años revela un misterio hasmoneo

Arqueólogos israelíes anunciaron el descubrimiento de un extenso tramo de una muralla de la época hasmonea, cuidadosamente desmantelada hace más de 2.100 años, en el complejo de la Torre de David, en la Ciudad Vieja de Jerusalén. La estructura, de más de 40 metros de largo y cinco de ancho, supera en magnitud a las actuales murallas otomanas y quedó enterrada bajo los cimientos de un antiguo palacio real.

The manager of an Old City hotel whose lease has been bought by a right-wing Jewish organization wants US President Joe Biden to give church leaders “just ten minutes” when he visits Israel next month to hear their concerns and reassure them that Christianity will be safe in Jerusalem.

Abu el-Walid Dajani, 78, runs the 44-room Imperial Hotel, built just inside the Jaffa Gate in time to accommodate officers of Germany’s Kaiser Wilhelm, who paid a state visit to the city in 1898.

On an afternoon this past May, author Matthew Teller pulled a small wheeled suitcase behind him as he walked around Jerusalem.

The bag was packed with copies of his latest book, “Nine Quarters of Jerusalem: A New Biography of the Old City.”

Tower of David renewal seeks to reinstate ancient citadel as Old City beacon

Jerusalem fortress, some of it 2,500-years-old, is completing a $40 million renovation, bringing city’s historic ‘lighthouse’ into 21st century.

There are portions of Jerusalem’s ancient Tower of David Museum that date as far back as 2,500 years, with sections that were regularly renovated and constructed over the centuries, depending on the period and its ruler.

Now the formidable fortress is undergoing a $40 million renewal project, making the museum complex accessible for the first time in its history, along with a new entrance pavilion and a state-of-the-art permanent exhibition.
