Barbra’s back — and this time, she brought Bob

Streisand assembles a glittering line-up of vocal royalty for her latest album that includes Bob Dylan.

At 83, she could be forgiven for spending her days in Malibu, gardening or reading presidential biographies, but that’s not Babs. She’s still got plenty to say — and sing. Politically outspoken, famously private, a fierce defender of democracy and decency, Streisand remains a cultural lightning rod: revered, criticised, unstoppable. She’s been happily married to James Brolin since 1998, recently published a blockbuster memoir that landed on every bestseller list, and is still the only artist with No.1 albums in six consecutive decades.

And now, she’s back with a new release — The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two — out on 27 June, and if you haven’t got your copy yet, now’s the time to order it.

The Streisand Effect: I’m Jewish in my soul, my heritage, my spirit

Ahead of the legendary singer's performance at Hyde Park on July 7, read about her long career, reflecting on meeting Shimon Peres and working on Yentl.

It was the look on Shimon Peres’ face that said it all. The late president of Israel was watching Barbra Streisand sing ‘Avinu Malkeinu’ at his request to mark his 90th birthday celebration in Jerusalem in 2013.

With each soulful note that Streisand sang of the emotive prayer – Our Father, Our King – Peres’ expression grew in awe and reverence as his eyes softened. It was a look that will be replicated on the faces of many in the audience at her British Summertime concert in Hyde Park on 7 July.
