Saudi police detained a 14-year-old boy on Tuesday after a video of the teenager dancing the Macarena in a crosswalk made waves on social media.

In the video, which is set to the popular 1990s “Macarena” dance song, the boy can be seen crossing the street before stopping in the middle of the crosswalk and starting to dance, as traffic stands still at the intersection.

Police have accused the boy of “improper public behavior” and disrupting traffic.

It was not immediately clear what the nationality of the boy is or whether he will be charged.

The video resurfaced on the internet last week after being taken down following its first appearance in 2016, according to the Middle East Eye.

While a large number of social media users have expressed support for the boy and denounced his arrest, others have echoed Saudi authorities and condemned the dancing.

Earlier this month, Saudi authorities arrested popular singer Abdallah Al Shahani for “dabbing” at a concert in the Saudi city of Taif.

Saudi Arabia had banned the dance move, alleging it advocates marijuana use.

Police in Saudi Arabia also arrested a woman last month after video surfaced of her walking in a historic village north of the capital Riyadh wearing a miniskirt and crop top, and showing her hair.

The woman, who was arrested after an outcry from people who say she flagrantly violated the kingdom’s conservative Islamic dress code, was later released without charge.
