(April 26, 2021 / JNS) As part of its power struggle with Fatah, Hamas has been enabling smaller Gazan terror factions to fire rockets at Israeli border communities since Friday.

Since April 23, the smaller armed groups have fired 41 projectiles at southern Israel with three launched on Sunday night at Sderot and intercepted by the Iron Dome air-defense battery.

(April 21, 2021 / JNS) In the biggest defense agreement yet between Israel and Greece, officials from both countries signed a government-to-government contract last week in Athens, which will see Israel’s Elbit Systems company construct a state-of-the-art international flight training center in Greece.

The agreement, worth approximately $1.6 billion, assigns Elbit to establish and operate the center for 22 years.

If Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fails to form a government by the end of his allotted mandate period, the so-called change bloc of opposition parties will seek to persuade President Reuven Rivlin to give the mandate to Yamina leader Naftali Bennett, Channel 13 reported on Friday.

Sources in the bloc, who have vowed not to join forces with Netanyahu, told the network they feared that if Rivlin does not give the opposition a chance and sends the mandate back to the Knesset, it will become impossible to reach a consensus.

WASHINGTON (JTA) — Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he anticipates more normalization agreements for Israel in the next year.

Blinken spoke Wednesday evening in Washington, D.C., at the Israeli Embassy’s virtual celebration of that nation’s Independence Day, or Yom Haatzmaut. He was joined virtually by Israel’s U.S. ambassador, Gilad Erdan.

“The United States welcomes and supports the recent normalization agreements,” Blinken said, referring to the Abraham Accords brokered last year by the Trump administration between Israel and four Arab states.

“We will continue to urge more countries to normalize relations with Israel — and will look for other opportunities to expand cooperation among countries in the

(JTA) — An abandoned and ancient synagogue in Libya is being turned into an Islamic religious center without permission, the World Organization of the Jews of Libya said.

Dutch shop fined for omitting the word ‘settlement’ from label of Israeli wine from the West Bank

AMSTERDAM (JTA) — Dutch government inspectors fined a store for labeling wine made in an Israeli settlement as “a product from an Israeli village in Judea and Samaria.”

The Israel Products Center near Amsterdam received the $2,514 fine last week following its refusal to replace the label with one acceptable to the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority, which requires such labels read “Product from the West Bank (Israeli settlement).”

The Israel Products Center, a shop and importer run by the pro-Israel group Christians for Israel, has had legal problems over labeling since 2019. The center’s director, Pieter van Oordt, wrote in a statement that he was “shocked” by the

(April 16, 2021 / JNS) British Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently announced the United Kingdom’s opposition to an International Criminal Court investigation into Israel for alleged war crimes.

Ahead of legislative elections set for next month, logos of 11 of the 36 Palestinian political parties appear to deny Israel’s existence by displaying a map of the entire region as Palestine.

Aside from the dominant Palestinian movements — Fatah secularists and the Hamas terrorist group — many smaller factions also appear to use the same map that erases all of the State of Israel.
