ACT NOW! Urge International Football Body to Sanction Palestinians Over Threats to Israel and Messi

Urge FIFA to take action against the Palestinians following their assault on Israel and Messi, and finally end their disgraceful use of sports as a vehicle for hatred and terrorism.

Argentina’s national football team succumbed this week to demands by BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) activists to cancel a match against Israel’s national football team in Jerusalem, which was canceled just three days before it was scheduled to take place

The team’s star Lionel Messi is reportedly behind the decision.

The Argentinian team had faced a vicious onslaught of protests and direct threats to team players and their families by anti-Israel activists.

Jibril Rajoub, head of the Palestinian Football Association (PFA), had personally targeted Messi and called on him to boycott Israel.

Rajoub implored Messi not to “play a role in whitewashing the occupation” and threatened that if Messi does play in Israel, Arab and Muslim sports fans should burn photos and t-shirts of the Barcelona superstar.

The cancellation came hours after pro-Palestinian activists staged a nasty demonstration in front of the sports complex in Barcelona where Argentina is training for the World Cup. They waved the jersey of Argentina’s national team stained with red paint resembling blood.

The Argentinian team was scared away from Israel by an influx of protests against the match and by the threats received by family members of the players.

This is not the first time Arab and anti-Israel entities have tried and attempted to undermine Israel through sports events.

The Palestinians have utilized Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) several times in recent years as a platform for attacking Israel.

Rajoub, who served time in an Israeli prison for acts terrorism, is the driving force behind the Palestinian battle against Israel in the world of sports.

“Any activity of normalization in sports with the Zionist enemy is a crime against humanity,” Rajoub stated in 2014.

In 2012, slamming the idea of organized sports activities with Israelis, Rajoub stated on PA TV that he would bring Arabs by helicopter to events instead of crossing through Israel “so they will see no Jews, no Satans, no Zionist sons of bitches.”

This vicious conduct not only violates the spirit of camaraderie of the game, demonstrating a shameful lack of sportsmanship, it introduces unbridled and ugly hatred to the world of international sports.

Call on FIFA to take action against Rajoub and the PFA and finally end this disgraceful use of sports as a vehicle for hatred and terrorism.
