This historical footage shows Jerusalem from roughly a century ago (1918 – 1934). And you can clearly see so many Jews who dreamed and tried and succeeded in coming to the Promised Land.
This was before the modern State of Israel was declared in 1948.
Yet for thousands of years, there have always been Jews in Jerusalem, and Jews have always hoped for Jerusalem. In fact, three times a day Jews pray for Jerusalem.
And at the end of the Passover Seder, we sing “le’shana haba be’yerushalayim” – next year in Jerusalem. And why is this so? Because Jerusalem and Jews are inseparable.
Jews always keep their eyes on Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the holy city where the first and second Temples once stood, the place where God’s presence was closely felt. And so we don’t give up on Jerusalem – and this video is proof.
